Dear Family,
First, we have to tell you how much we love you, the church and our Heavenly Father. We have been thoroughly enjoying this summer and the renovations (sounds psycho, but it is true), working as a family and just being together. We miss those who are not here, but we fully support you in the work (literally) that you are doing. We are so proud of each of you. Keep up the good work, and if there is anything we can do to help you, please call.
Now, down to business. We have been looking for a way to begin work on our family history: the stories, memories, daily activities that have made this such a fun and worthwhile family to be together with. JB has done some research on line and has some options we would like to look at. He will be continuing his research and will let us know in the next little while what he has found. To assist him in his work, could you consider what would work best for you.
1. Online is a given, but would you prefer Blog format or on line journal, newsletter format.
2. What features are of importance to you? For example, picture capabioities, download capabilities, sharing capabilities, video, etc.
3. Should this be open to public or private to the family?
Please give this some consideration and email JB and myself back so that we can begin work on this.
Sure love y'all.
Mlom and Dad
Once the downstairs is finsihed, we will send pictures of the masterpiece. Jess is doing great work staining our pure wooden doors (they are beautiful.
Hey there family!
Sorry i wasn't able to email for the last couple of weeks. Its been kinda crazy on Sundays. Life has been wonderful on the other hand, especially this last week. It was a crazy busy week but everything worked out very well and i am here at the end of it just feeling happy and blessed and wonderful. We did a 10 person date yesterday morning and let me tell you, there is a reason that people never do more than a triple date. First, it is very difficult if not impossible to coordinate the schedules of 10 YSA aged people as evidenced by the fact that the only time we could make it work for everyone was at 7 in the morning and even then we got one of the girls to work just a bit late. Second, it starts to lose the date feel and becomes more like a group of friends going out for fun. That being said it was ridiculous amounts of fun. We went hiking and boy but I have missed that!!! We went up to these falls and the trail came out just to the side of the falls and about 50 up. There was a path down one way but there was also a skid and so I decided to take that way down as it wasn’t loose and looked like a great deal of fun. I also got to drink from the falls and worked up the bravery to walk under them. This last one was because there was this old man who did it and then took two of his granddaughters though who couldn’t have been older than 8. So we figured that if a grandpa and two little girls did it it would be irreparable to our reputation as men to our dates if we didn’t do it too. Or at least that was my reasoning. 3 of the girls did it too. Let me tell you I have never felt so alive and I definitely felt like I proved my manliness beyond question. (see pics) It was also perfect weather for a hike. No direct sun as it was clouded over but no rain either so it wasn’t muggy (until the way back when our wet shirts did the work for the rain). Actually it was neat as we were really worried that it was going to rain on us but it didn’t rain until aobut 10 minutes after we got back inside. I felt very much blessed and happy and excited with life. It also helped that the girl I went with was exceptionally cute. Anyway so that was that. Monday was also cool as we went over to the first councillor’s house for FHE to watch the apple dumpling gang (highly recommended: it has the guy who plays barney fife and the guy in the ghost and mr chicken and is hilarious in parts) and have apple dumplings, apple crisp, apple muffins and a few other appley treats. As a side note he also got this monstrous bag of popcorn which no one touched and subsequently got given to my apartment. So we have had more popcorn than we know what to do with this week. It has been good snack food though! Anyway the first councillor has a garden and several fruit trees including a couple of pear treats and a plum tree or two and as soon as I saw the garden i started thinking about how much I missed gardening and how much I wanted a garden. Then I got talking with him and he has a neighbor with an apricot tree and he said that he might be able to get us in to pick them as the neighbor never uses them and then he said that he would teach us how to make apricot jam!!! So in the near future I may have homemade apricot jam in my fridge (yes. Feel envious.)
Last thing before I end (sorry this has gone so long, it has been a wonderful week). The other day I was talking with my roommate and his girlfriend about subatomic particles (possibly right after our conversation on the higgs bozon Derek) and she commented on how the base particle for everything in an atom is the quirk (no not a spelling mistake, that’s what she said) and how therefore everything that we know in the universe is really just made up of quirks. Best word slip I think I have ever heard. Even better when applied to people because its so true!!!! Anyway i hope life is going wonderfully for all of you. I love you so much and hope that life is being nice to you. If not let me know and I’ll have some stern words with it and see if we can clear up some things.
Take care!
Your son and brother,
David

Hey everyone!
So i hope that you all have had a wonderful week, from what i hear you have for the most part done a fabulous job of that!
My week has been a complete blast. So let me tell you about it! Beginning off the week was FHE, which we decided to do a district meeting for, and had the Sisters come and lead a practice session and other such things that missionaries do in their meetings. It was centered on helping the branch feel comfortable answering questions about the gospel, and i thought it went rather well. Although it did kind of turn into a giant gospel discussion at one point, i dont think that's really a bad thing right?
Throughout the week i've had a chance to get to know a couple people in the branch and spend a great deal of time hanging out with them (I know, terrible, prophets have warned against such a thing). It's been a huge blessing for me though, I was talking last week to Lanieka Falkenburg, and i discovered that she was very nearly as bored as i have been recently been, so we decided to get a group of friends together and do some fun stuff. It's been so nice to be able to spend my time with friends and enjoy everyone's company. Last Sunday we went over to Lanieka's house and had dinner and a fire, and roasted marshmallows, which was a blast.
Yesterday was our branch beach activity, which was also inordinate amounts of fun, although it was carried out in true Red Deer YSA fashion, meaning that everyone left before having any idea at all where we were going, the end result was an entire convoy of YSA that were completely lost trying to find Jarvis bay! Like i said, exactly in line with our branch standards.
Anyways, i better let you all go, it is getting late (for me at least) and i'm rather tired after a wonderful Sunday. Hope you all have a fantastic week, and i will talk to you again soon!
